Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has anno
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the final datesheet for CBSE Board exams 2026 for Class 10 & Class 12. The CBSE board exam for phase 1 of CBSE 10th board exams 2026 will be conducted from 17th February 2026 to 10th March’26. Students must note that the CBSE 12th exams 2026 will be held from 17th February’26 to 9th April’26.

CBSE announced that the examinations of both Class X and XII in 2026 will commence from 17th February, 2026 while declaring the results of examinations 2025. It was also informed that in 2026, CBSE will conduct two Board examinations for Class X as per the recommendations made in NEP-2020. This change is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 aims to reduce exam stress and provide more flexibility.
Based on the registration data of Class IX and Class XI, CBSE, for the first time released a tentative Date Sheet for 2026 examinations on 24.09.2025 i.e. 146 days before the start of examinations so that stakeholders could make their preparations accordingly. As all schools have submitted their LOC and CBSE now has final data of subject combinations offered by the students, hence, CBSE has prepared the Date Sheet for the examinations. It is for the 1st time the final datesheet issued 110 days prior to commencement of the CBSE Board exams 2026 for Class X & XII. The sole reason behind this strategic plan is the timely submission of LOC by the schools. It is mandatory for schools to register students for the board examinations, by submitting List of Candidates (LOC) to CBSE, to allow them to appear for the exams. The LOC submission is done on a dedicated online portal, with student’s details and selected subjects. This ensures that only officially registered students can take Class 10 and 12 board exams.
How this early release of the Datesheet will benefit the students?
1. Students can start their preparation well in advance which will help to overcome the exam anxiety, study stress, and the performance will be improved for sure.
2. Better planning for evaluation schedule & preparation as per the exam dates.
3. Schools can make better plan for students of board exams
4. Schools who will be the exam centers, will hav    e enough time to plan their school’s in-house activities well on time.
5. Students will get the required time to identify the areas of improvement and strengthen them by practicing with 10 year Board question papers 2025 to take an insight of actual exam paper.
6. JEE (Mains) & CBSE Examination dates won’t coincide.
As far as the Class X Board exams for 2026 Phase 2 is concerned, the final datesheet doesn’t include the dates, though it was provided in the Tentative Datesheet. Phase 1 exams are mandatory for all students. The Internal Assessments (in any case) will be conducted only once, before the first exam. However, Phase 2 exams (if conducted) will be optional and will be conducted for students who are seeking to improve their performance in up to three subjects. The better score from the two exams will be considered the final result. The results for Class 10, Phase 1 & Phase 2 exams will be announced separately. The official details are yet to be released by CBSE.
While preparing the Date sheet, the following have been taken into consideration: -
1. A sufficient gap has been given between two subjects generally offered by a student in both classes.
2. The date of conduct of entrance examinations meant for the students of Class XII have been taken into consideration and efforts have been made to complete the examinations much before the entrance examinations. This will help the students in better time management for both the Board and entrance examinations.
3. During evaluation, teachers of all subjects will not stay away from their school simultaneously and for a longer period.
4. The date sheet has been prepared by avoiding more than 40,000 subject combinations to ensure that no two subjects' examinations offered by a student fall on the same date. Check the Class 10 exam dates here:
